City Seeks Comments on Rockville’s EV Readiness Plan

EV charging port

Rockville’s Electric Vehicle Readiness plan is ready for review.

Read the plan, provide comments through Monday, Feb. 3 and learn all about EVs and EV charging at engagerockville.com/evplan.

The plan contains 26 actions in four categories to help support the transition from combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles for City of Rockville residents, businesses and visitors. It identifies how the city can work with county, state and federal programs toward rapid adoption of electric vehicles, identifying where EV chargers are needed and recommending actions to support equitable charging access amid a growing demand. That includes identifying policy and permitting needs communicating the benefits and incentives available, installing grant-funded public chargers, and converting fleet vehicles.

Learn more about Rockville’s recent efforts to expand its charging network.

Electric vehicles cost less to operate, produce no exhaust, improve air quality and health, and — according to drivers of EVs in the city’s fleet — are a delight to operate. The EV plan will also help Rockville achieve the goals of its Climate Action Plan. Learn more about the Climate Action Plan at www.rockvillemd.gov/climate.
