Classes, Programs and Special Events: Summer Guide Has it All

Wonder no longer about how to fill those long summer days — the 2018 summer recreation guide “Life in Rockville” is now available, and is packed full of classes, programs and special events for all ages and interests.

The guide is available at City Hall, community centers, libraries and at www.rockville md.gov/guide. General registration begins Thursday, May 3. To register with a course number, visit www/rockvillemd.gov/registration.

New programs featured this year include:

  • Abrakadoodle – Read, Set, Create! (Ages 3-6.) 11-11:45 a.m. Saturdays, June 23-Aug. 11 at Thomas Farm Community Center, 700 Fallsgrove Drive.

    Explore the Bull’s Eye painting technique and create interesting effects using colors that disappear and reappear. Learn about artists Natasha Wescoat, Paul Klee and Wolf Kahn. A $24 materials fee is due to instructor at first class. $105 residents/$115 nonresidents. Register with course #5717.

  • Abrakadoodle – Fairy Tale Art. (Ages 20 months-3 ½ years.) 10-10:45 a.m. Saturdays, June 23-Aug. 11 at Thomas Farm Community Center, 700 Fallsgrove Drive.

    Adults and their children journey into the world of art inspired by fairy tales! A $24 material fee due to instructor at first class. $105 residents/$115 nonresidents. Register with course #4980.

  • Tween Time! (Ages 9-12.) 7-11 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 at Lincoln Park Community Center, 357 Frederick Ave.
    Lincoln Park Community Center closes its doors for an evening of fun just for tweens — video game tournaments, obstacle courses, relays, basketball and dodgeball tournaments, crafts, food and music, and a Snapchat scavenger hunt! No parents allowed, so it’s going to be lit! $20 residents/$30 nonresidents. Register with course #5442.
