Classes, Programs and Special
Events: Summer Guide Has it All

Wonder no longer about how to fill those long summer days — the 2017 Summer Guide, out on May 2, is packed full of classes, programs and special events for all ages and interests.

The guide will be available at City Hall, community centers, libraries and at www.rockvillemd.gov/guide.

New programs featured this year include:

  • Zumba Fit Kids — Minis (age 4-6)
A perfect way for 4-6-year-old kids to socialize with friends and jam out to their favorite music. Classes are high-energy dance parties that include dance steps, games and cultural exploration in a fun class structure.
  • Eco-Exporers Day Camp (ages 7-10)
End summer with the naturalists of Croydon Creek Nature Center, exploring the forest, investigating the meadow and splashing in the creek. Enjoy hikes in the Hayes Forest Preserve, games and other creative outdoor activities each day.
  • T-Ball/Baseball Skills (beginners, 4-6; intermediate, 6-8)
Coaches teach the fundamentals of baseball through fun, skill-building activities and give one-on-one attention to help kids learn the game. Throwing, catching and batting are emphasized and more advanced game-like situations are introduced as skills advance.
  • Ballet Workshop — Advanced Beginner (age 12 and up)
A chance to strengthen technique, correct alignment, perfect turns and push into a realm of dance participants have always wished to enter. The guide also includes information about programs at the Swim and Fitness Center, and Teens on the Go, the city’s summer field trip program, held June 26-Aug. 11 for teens entering grades 6-10. Swim and Fitness Center registration opens May 2. General registration begins May 3.
