Do Your Bit to Deter Deer

Area wildlife helps maintain a healthy ecosystem but can become a nuisance. Here are a few ways to live with, and discourage, deer:

  • Taste or odor repellent are humane forms of control designed to repel deer from an area. You can find repellents at sporting goods stores.
  • Plant deer-resistant native plants.
  • Install fencing and physical barriers.
  • Do not feed the deer. (Feeding wildlife can do more harm than good.)

For general deer-related information, call Rockville’s Parks and Facilities Division at 240-314-8700. To report dead or injured deer, call the Rockville City Police Department’s non-emergency line at 240-314-8900.
