New Fire Protection Oversight System Proves a Success

The Compliance Engine

Since January’s implementation of the Compliance Engine, a third-party inspection and data collection platform for fire protection systems, the city has experienced 20% fewer nuisance alarms.

The Compliance Engine allows oversight by Rockville’s fire marshal and Inspection Services Division of fire alarm, sprinkler, smoke control and commercial cooking extinguisher systems installed within commercial and multifamily dwellings in the City of Rockville.

This facilitates a more efficient review, tracking and follow-up process with building owners to correct deficiencies and maintain systems.

The system, which allows for accurate and timely inspection reporting and tracking of those fire-protection systems, has meant greater safety and protection for the community.

Of 656 premises that were inspected since the system’s implementation, 90% were compliant.
