“I’ve got to tell you, I’ve never seen a senior center like this.” That was U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra’s first comment upon touring the Rockville Senior Center on Aug. 11. As soon as he saw the center’s woodworking studio, Becerra (hands folded in the dark suit) declared himself ready for a Rockville Senior Center membership. Becerra dropped by the center to discuss the Inflation Reduction Act and how it would change how seniors access prescription drugs. He also took the time to listen to questions and concerns from a panel of 12 Rockville seniors, led by Senior Citizens Commission chair Anne Herbster.
