The City of Rockville is partnering with the Immigration Film Fest to host a screening of the heartwarming family film, “Under the Same Moon,” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville, 100 Welsh Park Drive.
The film, which received a standing ovation when it premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, tells the parallel stories of Rosario and her 9-year-old son, Carlitos. Rosario, in the hopes of providing a better life for her son, works illegally in the U.S. while back in Mexico her mother cares for Carlitos. Unexpected circumstances drive both Rosario and Carlitos to embark on their own journeys in a desperate attempt to reunite. Adrian Alonso stars as Carlitos, with a supporting performance by America Ferrera.
There are over 1.5 million immigrants in the Washington metropolitan area, many of whom live and work in Rockville, one of the most diverse cities in Maryland.
