Kuan Lee

Candidate for Council

Dear Rockville Neighbors,

My name is Kuan Lee and I am running to be your city council representative. As the ninth most culturally diverse city in the US, we have the demographic composition to lead our nation in turning fear into trust and hate into love.

Our cultural diversity helps us recognize and respect ways of being that are not necessarily our own. Our people share and contribute to our community their language skills, new ways of thinking, new knowledge, and different experiences that ultimately builds trust, respect, and understanding across city. We must embrace our diversity because it is the source of our city’s strength. Rockville is the Beacon of Diversity and Inclusion.

I will continue to support our City’s inclusion initiative to hear from people of all colors, faiths, and backgrounds to promote mutual understanding. In the last two and a half years, I worked with one of Rockville’s most successful Culture and Diversity outreach organizations, the Rockville Sister City Corporation, to help establish our City’s second sister city relationship in Yilan City, Taiwan. Our efforts have encouraged volunteerism and have brought people with different backgrounds together.

With new people and new voices, it is together that we will strengthen our city infrastructures, and it is together that we will develop long-term strategies for our city’s future. We will ensure that we have adequate public facilities standards required to maintain growth so it complements, not overwhelms, our neighborhoods, schools, and roads. Together, let’s move Rockville Forward.
