Lobby and Locker Room Renovations Planned for Swim and Fitness Center

Plans to modernize and expand the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center’s locker room and lobby are set to be underway soon.

An invitation soliciting potential contractors to bid on the project was posted on the City of Rockville’s website in October. The deadline for those bids to be received is Friday, Dec. 14.

Construction is tentatively expected to begin in late winter 2019 and is projected to last about 12 months.

Key elements of the project include a complete renovation and expansion of the locker room and lobby; modernizing infrastructure and amenities; improving Americans with Disabilities Act compliance; and reconfiguring the lobby.

An open house in June 2017 allowed attendees to see a presentation of the conceptual design, review highlights of facility areas, talk to city staff and the design team, and provide feedback.

Rockville Swim and Fitness Center is a full-service aquatics, fitness and recreation facility located at 355 Martins Lane. The facility features two indoor and three outdoor pools, along with a whirlpool and fitness and exercise room.
