Mayor and Council Support Recommendations for Stonestreet Study

The Mayor and Council unanimously supported recommendations for three key opportunity areas from the Stonestreet Corridor Study at their Aug. 1 meeting.

The first recommends initiating a process to change the city’s Comprehensive Master Plan to allow a broader variety of development options in the area where Montgomery County Public Schools is currently operating along North Stonestreet Avenue.

The Mayor and Council also supported including, in the Fiscal Year 2020 budget or earlier, a request to design sidewalk and street improvements for North Stonestreet Avenue, and to the intersection of South Stonestreet Avenue and Park Road, in front of the Rockville Metro station.

The area of the Stonestreet Corridor Study generally covers the east and west sides of north and south Stonestreet avenues, from Westmore Road to the north, to where South Stonestreet Avenue dead-ends to the south.
