Community Budget Priorities Survey Available in Multiple Languages
Acting City Manager Craig L. Simoneau is scheduled to present Rockville’s proposed Fiscal Year 2025 operating budget and Capital Improvements Program on Monday, March 4, followed by Mayor and Council public hearings and work sessions in March and April.
The proposed budget will be available beginning Friday, March 1 at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget.
Public participation in the budget process is a high priority for the Mayor and Council and city staff. A community budget priorities survey at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget is now available in simplified Chinese, French, Korean and Spanish, as well as English. The survey allows community members to identify their budget priorities and options for maintaining a balanced budget. Survey responses provide valuable input to the Mayor and Council for their budget discussions.
A discussion on Dec. 4 gave the Mayor and Council their first opportunity to discuss their priorities. Find video of the discussion with the Dec. 4 meeting listing, information about how to testify at hearings and upcoming agendas, posted the week before each meeting, at www.rockvillemd.gov/AgendaCenter.
The $157.2 million budget for Fiscal Year 2024, which began July 1, keeps the city’s real property tax rate at $0.292 per $100 of assessed valuation. All residential and commercial property owners pay this tax. Rockville has not increased its property tax rate since 1995.
