Mayor and Council to Start Regular Work Sessions

Rockville’s Mayor and Council will include monthly work sessions in their meeting schedule, beginning on Sept. 25.

“The goal is to set aside time regularly for the Mayor and Council to dive into policy discussions that may not get adequate time and focus during a regular meeting,” City Manager Rob DiSpirito said in a staff memo.

City staff members will prepare material to support the Mayor and Council’s discussions, and be available at the sessions for questions. Guests with expertise or involvement in the discussion topic will be invited to participate. The work sessions will be broadcast on Rockville’s channel 11 and at www.rockvillemd.gov.

Work session topics may include the Fiscal Year 2019 budget process, workforce housing, and homelessness.

DiSpirito has suggested designating the last Monday of each month as a work session night, with meetings beginning at 7 p.m. Community Forum will not be held on work session nights. For future work session dates and discussion topics, visit www.rockvillemd.gov/AgendaCenter.
