The public will have an opportunity to comment on an amendment to the Comprehensive Master Plan for North Stonestreet Avenue at a public hearing held by the Mayor and Council at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25.
The plan amendment covers the area where Montgomery County Public School facilities, the historic Lincoln High School and Crusader Baptist Church are located. The proposed plan amendment addresses one of five key opportunity areas identified in the 2018 Stonestreet Corridor Study.
The amendment promotes mixed-use development with moderate density potential, and directs the more intense redevelopment toward North Stonestreet Avenue, away from existing single-family residences. The most compatible, purely residential uses are directed closest to the existing neighborhoods.
To testify, call 240-314-8280 by 4 p.m. the day of the hearing or by submitting testimony in writing to [email protected] or City Clerk’s Office/Director of Council Operations, City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850.
Rockville Mayor and Council meetings are broadcast live on channel 11 on county cable systems, livestreamed at www.rockvillemd.gov/rockville11 and available a day after the meeting at www.rockvillemd.gov/videoondemand.
