City’s Matching Grant Program Funds Six Projects
Five neighborhood groups and a local charity will receive support through Rockville’s Organizing Communities and Neighborhoods (ROC-N) Matching Grant Program for projects that seek to foster community involvement.
East Rockville Civic Association will buy meeting supplies to support the association’s desire to increase participation by creating more dynamic and engaging meetings.
King Farm Neighborhood Villages will conduct a survey to determine the services needed to support King Farm’s senior community and to establish a sustainable network of volunteers to provide services.
Legacy at Lincoln Park will use the grant to support its annual block party, which serves as a neighborhood meet and greet and an opportunity to find ways to get involved in the community.
Lincoln Park Forever Committee will use the grant to support its Lincoln Park Forever Reunion, which celebrates the historic community’s tradition and brings neighborhood families together.
Lincoln Park Civic Association will develop community outreach and maintain their newly developed website in order to foster a deeper sense of connection and belonging among old and new residents.
Register of Wills Charity Fund will provide backpacks with new winter supplies to area homeless.
The projects are expected to generate a total of 1,080 volunteer hours. The deadline for applications for the next round of ROC-N grants is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 14.
Neighborhood associations could receive up to $1,000 in a matching grant for projects addressing one or more of the following:
- Neighborhood outreach and organizing.
- Social events aimed at fostering a sense of community pride.
- Neighborhood crime prevention.
- Neighborhood preservation.
- The acquisition of technology or supplies that directly support an existing community program.
- Neighborhood planning.
