Next Stonestreet Study Meeting
to Focus on MCPS Sites

The next meeting on the Stonestreet Corridor Study will focus on sites owned by Montgomery County Public Schools. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 13, at Lincoln Park Community Center, 357 Frederick Ave.

The MCPS sites, at 570 and 595 N. Stonestreet Ave., were identified as key to the corridor by participants at the May 2 study kickoff meeting. More than 100 people from across Rockville attended that kickoff, including residents and representatives from the business community, churches, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and MCPS. Some of the issues raised included traffic and congestion, pedestrian safety, improving how the avenue looks, supporting existing businesses, keeping the area affordable, and promoting mixed-use development in certain areas. Future meetings will cover these and other topics.
