The Maryland Department of Transportation has partnered with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation to hold two public open houses on alternatives for a bus rapid transportation system being studied for MD Route 355.
Bus rapid transit, or BRT, is a transit system that uses buses primarily in dedicated lanes with fewer stops. Montgomery County and the state are currently studying BRT lines along U.S. 29, MD 355 and MD 586 (Veirs Mill Road). The state will decide on a set of alternatives for MD 355 that it will evaluate following the open houses.
Open house attendees will get to meet the project team, offer input, and hear about BRT alternatives, the results of a preliminary analysis, station design concepts, and what comes next.
Project information can be found at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/brt.
