Parks — They’re Good for Your Health, Too

The Rockville Recreation and Parks Department is taking part in Park Rx America and encouraging the community to visit one of Rockville’s 65 parks as one way to create a healthy, happy lifestyle.

The mission of Park Rx America is to reduce the burden of chronic disease, increase health and happiness, and foster environmental stewardship, by virtue of prescribing nature during the routine delivery of health care.

Park Rx America works with public parks and health care providers to develop resources and make it easy to prescribe parks to their patients. To date, doctors across America have made over 3,000 park prescriptions since the program started in 2013.
