Annual Awards Celebrate Rockville’s Heritage
The 39th annual Peerless Rockville awards ceremony, held Nov. 2 at Normandie Farm restaurant in Potomac, recognized efforts to preserve Rockville’s historic and architectural character through projects, activities and programs. This year’s winners were:
- Artist Paul Waclo, in the public art category, for his “An Eagle and Two Bears” sculpture in Horizon Hill Park.
- Lou Harrington, for compatible infill, rehabilitation, and craftsmanship, at 209 Harrison St., by architects Miche Booz and Catherine Stratton Treadway.
- Montgomery Housing Partnership for stewardship and rehabilitation at Beall’s Grant, 254 N. Washington St.
- Dianne Fasolina, parks maintenance manager for the City of Rockville, for working with the community to enhance the playground at the Pump House, 401 S. Horners Lane.
- Eileen McGuckian and Glenn Wallace, for community advocacy, for the Montgomery County Cemetery Inventory Revisited project.
Peerless Rockville is an award-winning, community-based nonprofit founded in 1974 to preserve buildings, objects and information important to Rockville’s heritage.
