Key Plan Ideas to be Discussed, Input Sought
Three meetings in January will allow the public to give further feedback on draft policies and concepts of Rockville 2040, the plan that will shape the city’s future.
Rockville 2040 Open Houses
Three open house meetings will be held this month at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.:
• 7-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11.
• 7-9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16.
• 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Jan. 20.
Following the meetings, the draft plan will be submitted to a formal review process that involves the Planning Commission and Mayor and Council.
Rockville 2040 has been a wide-ranging initiative dedicated to updating the city’s Comprehensive Master Plan, and has featured an intensive set of listening sessions and citywide forums, as well as community and stakeholder meetings. The Comprehensive Master Plan’s goal is to preserve and improve the quality of life in Rockville by guiding development and conservation, and ensuring that the city can continue to provide high-quality community facilities.
The same information will be discussed at each meeting, allowing attendees to come on the date that best suits their schedules. Rockville staff will be on hand to discuss key plan ideas and answer questions. The meetings will follow an open house format with maps, charts and displays illustrating topics and concepts.
