Planning Commission to Hold Public Hearing on North Stonestreet Avenue Land Use

Draft Master Plan Amendment is Online

Rockville’s Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 on an amendment to the Comprehensive Master Plan for a portion of North Stonestreet Avenue.

The draft plan amendment is a step toward implementing recommendations in the Stonestreet Corridor Study to promote neighborhood-oriented mixed-use development. The area under consideration is generally between Howard Avenue to the south and Spring Avenue to the north.

A draft of the plan amendment document, titled “Comprehensive Master Plan Amendment: N. Stonestreet Avenue Land Use – Public Hearing Draft,” and more information about the Stonestreet study, is available on the city’s website at www.rockvillemd.gov/2004/stonestreet-corridor.

A hard copy of the report is available for review at the Community Planning and Development Services Department, second floor of City Hall, at 111 Maryland Ave.

The draft plan amendment document is available for comment ahead of the public hearing. Testimony can be sent in writing to the City of Rockville Planning Commission, c/o Long Range Planning, CPDS, 111 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850; by email to [email protected]; or in person, at the Nov. 14 public hearing. Individuals and representatives of agencies or organizations should include in testimony their name, address and, if applicable, affiliation.
