The City of Rockville’s Procurement Division presented its Fiscal Year 2018 annual report in November to the Mayor and Council, the fourth since the Mayor and Council requested a yearly accounting of the city’s purchasing in 2014.
The Procurement Division is responsible for the acquisition of goods and services for City of Rockville operations.
The report covers July 1, 2017, to June 30. Among its highlights, the report showed:
• An increase in Mayor and Council awards for the Minority, Female and Disabled outreach program, from 28 percent in FY 2017 to 33 percent (about $1.8 million) in FY 2018. Rockville’s outreach to the minority-, female- and disabled-owned business community includes a presence at business events; networking with, and gathering information about, MFD vendors; and technical assistance meetings with MFD business.
• An increase in the use of the competitive procurement process, which includes invitations for bids, and a drop in the use of non-competitive procurements.
