Return of the Robots! … And Rockets, Reptiles and More

Rockville Science Day is April 24 at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus

After a two-year pandemic pause, Rockville Science Day returns for an afternoon of rockets, robots, reptiles, chemistry, and more from noon-5 p.m. Sunday, April 24 at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, 51 Mannakee St.

The 31st edition of the free, popular event offers a chance to experience science hands-on, with science and technology-related exhibits, activities, games, and demonstrations from over 70 local organizations and businesses.

Activities and exhibits include building and launching rockets, telescopes, robots, backyard wildlife, microscopes, snakes, stream science, Civil War medical practice, coding challenges, math puzzles, chemistry in action, electric vehicles, quadcopters, archaeology mini-digs, 3D printing, and brain games.

Volunteers are needed. Student Service Learning hours are available for students 16 and older who help with setup on Saturday and exhibits on Sunday. Learn more about registering an exhibit or volunteering at www.rockvillesciencecenter.org/rscd.

Can’t Wait for Science Day?
The Rockville Science Center sponsors online science presentations the second and third Tuesday of every month. For something a bit more hands-on, the center hosts classes and engaging activities, such as a new family chess club. Open discussion periods are on Thursday evenings and STEM Activities Day is monthly on a Saturday.

Activities are held in the center’s storefront at 36C Maryland Ave. in Rockville Town Square and in the Makerspace in at Rockville Memorial Library, 21 Maryland Ave.

The center also hosts spring break and summer camps at its storefront home, and in schools and recreation centers. Learn more about these and other upcoming events at www.rockvillesciencecenter.org.

RSC is a nonprofit supported by the generous donations of its members and sponsors, including the City of Rockville. Learn more about supporting the center at www.rockvillesciencecenter.org/supporter.
