Revitalizing Recreation: The Benefits of Rockville’s Pool Renovation Project

One of summer’s most popular features — the outside recreation pool at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center — will be transformed into a state-of-the-art swimming experience in time for 2025’s pool season.

Rockville Swim and Fitness Center Pool Renovation Plan

The project will involve a complete renovation and reconfiguration of the outdoor recreation pool areas, including improvements to accessibility, and modernized amenities and infrastructure that will provide exciting new recreational features and pools for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Bid submissions from potential contractors are due Wednesday, April 10. Construction is expected to begin in mid-August and last through May 2025. Interested bidders can get more information at www.rockvillemd.gov/bids.aspx

To accommodate the construction, the outdoor recreation pool will close early for the summer 2024 season, around Friday, Aug. 16. Other areas of the complex including the outdoor fitness pool, indoor pools and fitness room are planned to remain open throughout the construction.

Note that all schedules are tentative and the facility may be impacted by minor interruptions during the upgrade process.

Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/rsfcrenovations for a layout of the proposed renovations, along with examples of the renovated pool’s amenities.
