Rockville Partners to Light it Up Blue for Autism Awareness

Rockville’s Recreation and Parks Department has partnered with Montgomery Parks and Takoma Park Recreation to cosponsor the Light it Up Blue event, which marks Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month in April.

Fun family activities are planned from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Agricultural History Farm Park at 18400 Muncaster Road, Derwood. The cost is $8 per person for ages 5 and older (cash only on the day). Children 5 and younger are free.

The evening will include hands-on activities, music by Banjo Man Frank and live farm animals. Take part in an all-inclusive one-mile GLOW walk, beginning at 6:40 p.m. with a dance warm up by ZamDance. The night will conclude with s’mores by the fire.

A community resource area will also be available. Activities are available for families to take part in at their own pace. A sensory tent will be available to take breaks.

The Friends of Agricultural History Farm Park will be onsite selling hamburgers, hot dogs and snacks, or attendees can bring a picnic dinner. Limited picnic tables will be available for seating.

Advanced registration is strongly encouraged and includes a T-shirt while supplies last. Event will be rain or shine, although may be canceled for extreme weather. For more information, visit www.montgomeryparks.org/events/light-it-up-blue-autism-awareness-acceptance.
