Rockville Police Make a Big (Cold) Splash for Special Olympics

Rockville Police at Polar Bear Plunge

The Rockville City Police Department was freezin’ for a good reason as a team of officers and civilian staff took a dip in a chilly Chesapeake Bay as part of the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge, Feb. 2, at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis.

The team more than doubled its fundraising goal of $1,000, collecting $2,730 in donations. The funds go to the 15,588 athletes of Special Olympics Maryland. RCPD’s annual effort is coordinated by Cpl. Ronnie Crowe, the department’s community services officer.
