Updates on Rockville’s Diversity
Efforts

Community members who want to stay informed about the city’s diversity efforts, can sign up for newsletter updates at www.rockvillemd.gov/diversitytownhall.

The updates are designed to keep the conversation going after the Mayor and Council’s town hall meeting on diversity in February, which drew more than 150 people to address topics such as hate crimes, enhancing community policing, reducing barriers to government, communicating with young people and promoting inclusion.

Rockville is one of the most diverse communities in America. As of the 2010 Census, 34 percent of the 61,000 city residents were born outside of the U.S., with Asian residents making up the largest racial minority (21 percent), followed by Hispanic residents (14 percent) and African-American residents (10 percent).

Increasing the city’s proactive outreach to diverse populations is one of the Mayor and Council’s priority initiatives.

Find a recap of the Feb. 6 town hall meeting at www.rockvillemd.gov/youtube. Search “diversity.”
