The Mayor and Council today issued the following statement:
“The City of Rockville would like to thank the members of the Board of Supervisors of Elections (BSE), City and Montgomery County staff members, and the volunteer election workers and judges for their efforts in ensuring that the City’s November 7, 2023, general election was fair and transparent. Rockville pioneered vote by mail in the state of Maryland and has continued to grow civic participation. The BSE performs a vital function in encouraging civic engagement and trust in our elections, and the Mayor and Council appreciates their commitment to integrity in conducting a complex and successful election. The BSE is made up of resident volunteers who work many hours. This includes many hours of planning and executing the election, including Election Day itself and the tallying of the results that extended into the early hours the day after. The BSE will work with staff to hold two post-election debriefing meetings in January to discuss the conduct of the 2023 elections and to hear from the Community and the Candidates. In addition, staff and the BSE will present to the new Mayor and Council on ideas, lessons learned, and ways to continue to support the election process now and in the future.”
