Take a Spring Break with Mini-Camps Recreation and Parks Rec Guides

Spring Guide has Lots to Do in Rockville

Don’t sit around the house bored this spring break. Montgomery County Public Schools will be closed April 10-14, but Rockville’s mini-camps at the city’s three community centers have fun, affordable, supervised programs with crafts, organized games, sports, adventure and day trips to stave off the break blues for children in kindergarten to fifth grade.

Register for the camps in-person at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., or online rockenroll.rockvillemd.gov with the course numbers for your preferred location:

  • Lincoln Park Community Center, 357 Frederick Ave. Register for course #58970.
  • Thomas Farm Community Center, 700 Fallsgrove Drive. Register for course #58741.
  • Twinbrook Community Recreation Center Annex, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway. Register for course #58969.

Mini-camps at the community centers run 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday, April 10 to Thursday, April 13. The cost is $150 for residents, $170 for nonresidents. Participants should bring a lunch each day and wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. Programs may vary slightly by location. Croydon Creek Nature Center naturalists will visit each community center during the week to provide unique, hands-on nature experiences for each camp — Tuesday at Twinbrook, Wednesday at Lincoln Park, and Thursday at Thomas Farm.

Alternatively, enhance curiosity and ignite ingenuity through LEGO-based engineering and architectural design. Engage in hands-on building projects while learning real-life applications in the areas of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math), in a fun, cooperative environment. General recreational activities are part of the day. Bring a lunch and a drink.

The LEGO Engineering Spring Break Camp runs 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday, April 10 to Thursday, April 13 at Ritchie Park Elementary School.

Register for the LEGO camp at rockenroll.rockvillemd.gov with course #58582. The cost for residents is $299, and for nonresidents, $319.

For summer camps, see the Rockville Recreation and Parks 2017 Camp Guide online at www.rockvillemd.gov/guide.
