Celebrate the B&O Railroad’s 150th Anniversary with an Explore Rockville Tour

Peerless Rockville celebrates the 150th Anniversary of Rockville’s Baltimore & Ohio Railroad station with “Explore Rockville: The B&O Railroad Changes Rockville Forever,” a self-guided tour and scavenger hunt.

In the summer of 1873, the Metropolitan Branch of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad opened its station in Rockville. The arrival of the Railroad brought enormous change to Rockville, then a small agricultural village.

The outdoor walking tour and scavenger hunt, which can be completed from Thursday, May 25-Monday, May 29, takes you through more than 10 sites and stories of how this exciting new transportation system caused Rockville to grow by leaps and bounds.

Tour stops are a surprise and feature Rockville’s unique sites, stories and art located across the city. Explore places you’ve never been and sites you pass-by all the time, unaware of their rich history.

Cost is $15 per household. To register, visit peerlessrockville.org. After registration, each household will receive a link to a printable program with site details and scavenger hunt instructions for each stop.
