City Hosts Donation Event and Cycling Class in October

Gear up and give back with bikes this month.

Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation will accept used children’s and adult bikes, bike parts and bike helmets, and to provide free bike repairs for low-income residents, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 outside the Council Office Building garage, at East Jefferson and Monroe streets. (In case of rain, drop off bikes inside the garage.) Rockville Bike Hub and Bikes for the World are partners in this event. The Washington Area Bicyclist Association brings its City Cycling class to the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. WABA instructors will cover bike handling skills, then lead a short ride and talk about strategies for riding in different road, bike lane and trail situations. Riders will leave feeling more confident, comfortable, and happy on a bike.

Cost is $10, though drop-ins are free if space remains. The class is also free for WABA or bikeshare members. For a discount code, to register or to find more information, visit www.waba.org/adult-education/#cc.
