From Letter of Encouragement to Letter of Thanks for Hogan’s $1M in Bus Service Funding

Ride On LOGOA letter from the Mayor and Council to urge Gov. Larry Hogan to fund additional bus service during the Metro Safetrack repairs became a letter thanking him after Hogan announced Monday he’d allocated $1 million in state funds for the shuttles.

The free Ride On shuttle bus service will transport riders between Metro stations during Red Line repairs in August and October. Service will be reduced to a single track, which is set to cause major services delays. More than 50,000 riders commute each day on the Red Line from Montgomery County to Washington, D.C.

“This will help ensure that citizens of Montgomery County will be able to get to work and go about their daily lives in an efficient manner while Metro repairs take place,” Hogan said, according to “Bethesda Beat Magazine.”

The Mayor and Council were originally considering support for state Sen. Cheryl Kagan’s June 29 letter to Hogan requesting the funding when Hogan committed to the money earlier in the day during a press conference announcing a $229.6 million plan to ease traffic backups along the heavily-congested I-270 corridor and on local roads in Montgomery County.

The Mayor and Council voted unanimously to send Hogan a letter of thanks.
