Rockville Receives ‘Banner City’ Recognition from MML Once More

Rockville has been named a “Banner City” by the Maryland Municipal League. Sponsored by Comcast, the program recognizes municipalities whose elected and appointed officials are the league’s most engaged members. According to the MML, the Banner City/Town program fosters an environment where officials feel that their activities make a difference.

“Thank you to the officials from these cities/towns for your diligence in making good use of the League’s resources,” a news release from the MML stated. “When you are engaged, our League is stronger.”

According to the MML, officials from municipalities designated as banner cities or towns:

  • Ensure that young citizens understand what municipalities do and what they bring to their communities.
  • Are active on league committees, chapters, departments and the Board of Directors.
  • Commit personal time to attend training and networking events with other municipal officials.

Fifty-eight of the state’s 157 municipalities received the designation in 2020. The towns and cities receiving the designation this year will be part of a Comcast-produced slideshow before the MML business meeting on Tuesday, June 30, as part of the MML Virtual Conference.
