The Maryland Depart-ment of Transportation will hold a public meeting on its bus rapid transit (BRT) alternatives under consideration for Veirs Mill Road.
The public meeting will be held 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28 in the cafeteria of the Montgomery County Executive Office Building at 101 Monroe St. BRT is planned along Veirs Mill Road between the Rockville Metro station and Wheaton. Three alternatives are being considered. The preferred option is expected to be identified by the end of 2016.
The state will release, in early September, a draft corridor study with results of its analysis of the alternatives. The analysis will include projected ridership and the impact to traffic from the different options. Once the report is available, a public comment period begins and will run to mid-October. State representatives will present the alternatives to Rockville’s Mayor and Council during their Oct. 10 meeting.
City staff is available to brief neighborhood and citizen associations and others that wish to hear more about the project. Please contact Andy Gunning at 240-314-8206, or [email protected] if interested.
