Rockville Station Study Seeks Public Input

Two community visioning meetings will be held in Rockville as part of a new study of the Rockville Metro Station.

The project is sponsored by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, which will coordinate with the city and Montgomery County.

The meetings will be held:

Members of the public are invited to attend either meeting to help establish guiding principles and priorities for the project, which is expected to conclude in early 2022.

The station, which opened in 1984, is a critical part of the city’s transportation network, but showing its age.

The study’s goals are to develop recommendations for improvements to the station’s aging infrastructure and connections with Rockville’s downtown and neighborhoods to the east, and potential development opportunities at the site and strategies to increase bus and train ridership.

A public meeting later in the process will allow the public to give feedback on the draft concept plans that will be developed.
