Celebrating 45 Years with the City of Rockville

Karen Lumpkin, a recreations programs supervisor with the Rockville Senior Center, recently marked a major milestone — 45 years of service with the City of Rockville.

“It’s overwhelming,” Lumpkin told Rockville 11. “I’ve been really blessed with wonderful folks to work with as far as staff and supervisors. The participants, our seniors, are really the best anywhere in the country as far as I’m concerned. My coming here each day is not really like work, it’s like coming to a second home.”

Lumpkin’s family, including her husband, children and grandkids, joined her and other well-wishers at a party to celebrate her time with the city.

“She’s set a great example,” her son, Brian Lumpkin, told Rockville 11. “Forty-five years is an amazing accomplishment. She’s proven to us what hard work does and what it can accomplish.”
