City water receives high marks.

Rockville’s drinking water is safe, the city’s Department of Public Works said in the Annual Drinking Water Quality Report released July 1.

The report details the source, treatment, distribution, safety and quality of Rockville’s drinking water. Once again in 2015, Rockville’s drinking water met or exceeded all drinking water quality regulations set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and adopted and enforced by the Maryland Department of the Environment.

The city is required to perform stringent lead and copper testing every three years. Results of these tests have consistently shown lead and copper at levels below where the EPA takes regulatory or remedial action. The next round of such testing will occur in September.
