Civil War Trail Signs Being Updated

Two new interpretive signs have been installed at the Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine and Beall-Dawson House, the first of several signs to be updated in Rockville that are part of the Civil War Trails, Inc., program.

Civil War Trails, Inc., has partnered with the City of Rockville, Peerless Rockville, Montgomery History and a private donor to renovate and update the signage. The museum and historic house are at 103 W. Montgomery Ave.

The Civil War Trails program, which includes Rockville, connects visitors to more than 1,200 sites across six states. The program encourages visitors to stand in the footsteps of soldiers, citizens and those fighting for freedom. Tourism saves each Maryland household more than $1,175 per year in taxes, according to the Maryland Department of Commerce Division of Marketing, Tourism, Film and the Arts.

Peerless Rockville, Montgomery History, and local historian Clarence Hickey helped develop new text for the signs and will assist in revisions to other Civil War Trails signs in the area.
