“Building Bridges in a Diverse Society,” a dynamic, highly interactive diversity leadership workshop offered by the city’s Human Rights Commission, returns in April.
The free workshop is for students living in or attending high school in Rockville, or attending Montgomery College – Rockville. It will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.
The curriculum, based on the teachings of peace-building organizations, will provide students with tools to handle difficult situations through an understanding of diverse populations. It is designed to help students recognize prejudice and isolation, appreciate diversity, and create an environment of inclusion in their schools. Student leaders of diverse backgrounds are especially encouraged to attend. Student Service Learning hours will be offered and verification of hours attended is available for college students. Lunch will be provided.
