King Farm Farmstead
Renovation Begins

King Farm Farmstead.

Construction has begun on the city’s project to stabilize and restore the King Farm Farmstead dairy barns, at 1101 Grand Champion Drive.

This structural stabilization and renovation includes replacing the barns’ roof, framework, windows, doors, dormers, siding and exterior and interior paint. The project furthers the Mayor and Council’s priority initiative of stewardship of infrastructure. Details, including the project’s budget, can be found on page 308 of the Fiscal Year 2018 Adopted Operating Budget and Capital Improvements Program at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget.

The construction site was fenced off in late July. Construction vehicles are entering the site from Route 355 (Frederick Road) and Grand Champion Drive. The project will create construction noise during construction hours, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Access to the community garden at King Farm Farmstead will not be affected. Construction is expected to be completed in one year.
