Public Record to Remain Open Until Plan Adoption
The Mayor and Council’s work is continuing this month on Rockville’s Town Center Master Plan with a work session on Monday, Jan. 6. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Rockville Planning Commission approved a draft of the Town Center Master Plan in September to forward to the Mayor and Council for their final approval. The Mayor and Council held a public hearing on the draft plan on Oct. 28, a work session and public hearing on Dec. 9, with an additional work session on Dec. 16.
Video of those meetings are available at www.rockvillemd.gov/AgendaCenter by selecting the TV icon next to the meetings’ listings.
Four topics in the plan will be discussed more in depth: housing goals; permitted building heights; the bonus height program; and the elimination of minimum parking requirements.
The Mayor and Council will keep the record open for public input and comments until final adoption of the plan, tentatively scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13. To comment, email [email protected] and copy in [email protected].
The overarching goal of the master plan update is to strengthen Town Center by creating a cohesive vision for the planning area, one that meets the city’s goals and provides a clear path for implementation.
