Mayor and Council to Receive Proposed Budget in March

Community Priorities Survey Offers Opportunity for Neighborhood Representation

City Manager Jeff Mihelich is scheduled to present Rockville’s proposed Fiscal Year 2026 operating budget and Capital Improvements Program on Monday, March 17, followed by Mayor and Council public hearings and work sessions in March and April.

The proposed budget will be available beginning Friday, March 7 at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget.

Public participation in the budget process is a high priority for the Mayor and Council and city staff. That includes having all parts of the city represented in responses to a survey about community priorities for the city’s budget.

The survey can be found at www.rockvillemd.gov/budget. It is available in English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese and takes 5-10 minutes to complete. Responses provide valuable input to the Mayor and Council for their budget discussions.

Budget work sessions and public hearings are scheduled for Mondays, March 17 and 24. A work session and the close of the public record is scheduled for Monday, April 7.

The Mayor and Council are scheduled to adopt the budget on Monday, May 5. FY26 begins Tuesday, July 1.
The $168.3 million budget for Fiscal Year 2025, which began July 1, keeps the city’s real property tax rate at $0.292 per $100 of assessed valuation. All residential and commercial property owners pay this tax. Rockville has not increased its property tax rate since 1995.
