New Year’s and Martin Luther King Jr. Day Bring Closures in Rockville

City Hall and all city facilities will be closed for New Year’s Day, Wednesday, Jan. 1 and all city facilities except the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 20.

During the New Year’s holiday week, recycling, trash and yard waste collection will occur Monday and Tuesday as scheduled. Wednesday and Thursday collections will be made one day later than usual. During the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday week, all collections will occur one day later than usual. For more information, visit www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-trash or call 240-314-8568.

Parking will be free at city-owned meters on Jan. 1 and 20.

On Tuesday, Dec. 31, the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will offer limited services and will close at 4 p.m. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/swimcenter for details. The Rockville Skate Park will close at 7 p.m. Lincoln Park, Thomas Farm and Twinbrook community centers will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 31. Croydon Creek Nature Center will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Rockville Senior Center, including the fitness room, will close at 5 p.m.

The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office has relocated to the Rockville Civic Center Cottage behind Glenview Mansion while the theater undergoes renovations. Learn more about the renovations at www.rockvillemd.gov/theater. Tickets are always available for purchase at fscottfitzgerald.showare.com.
