Rockville Named ‘Best City for Families’ and ‘Banner City’

City Tops Livability.com List, ‘Banner’
Recognizes City’s Engaged Membership

Rockville recently earned accolades for its family friendliness and for the city’s efforts to educate and engage its community about their government.

Livability.com ranked Rockville No. 1 on its list of the 10 best cities for families in the United States, based on a study by the website that examined schools, crime rate, health care and economy, among other factors. The city was recognized for its diversity, walkability and number of parks.

Livability gave a nod to Rockville’s high graduation rate, low family poverty rate and its number of colleges and universities. Livability also noted that Rockville “consistently ranks among the best places to live by news outlets, such as Money magazine. Rockville has appeared twice on the Best Places to Live list and makes a second showing on the list of the Best Cities for Families.”

Rockville also was once again named a “Banner City” by the Maryland Municipal League, which recognizes the municipality as one of the league’s most engaged members. Banner cities and towns are recognized for showcasing municipal government, working to help strengthen their membership, educating youth about municipal government, taking part in league programs and activities, and ensuring their municipality is heard on issues and legislative priorities relevant to MML members.
