Montgomery County and the City of Rockville recently signed an agreement that the county will begin to pay the stormwater management utility fee charged by Rockville, City Manager Rob DiSpirito announced at the Sept. 11 Mayor and Council meeting.
“This is wonderful news and a great example of the strong partnership between the City of Rockville, County Executive Leggett and the county government,” DiSpirito said.
The county made the first payment in September and will continue to pay the fee annually in Fiscal Year 2019 and beyond.
The fee applies to impervious surfaces, such as rooftops, driveways and parking lots owned by the county and located in Rockville. It allows the city to comply with state and federal clean water requirements and helps fund maintenance of city stormwater conveyance and treatment systems. The agreement applies to county property, but not to schools or Montgomery College.
