The City of Rockville plans to mark Earth Month in April by giving away 300 trees to celebrate its 30th consecutive year receiving a Tree City USA designation from the National Arbor Day Foundation.

The “300 for the 30th” giveaway will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at the Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive. Rockville residents, including homeowners, homeowners’ associations and nonprofits will be able to choose up to two free trees, from among a selection of large shade trees and small flowering trees. City staff will provide tree planting demonstrations and advice for caring for trees, and the city will hold a ceremony celebrating Arbor Day and three decades as a Tree City USA.

Watch for more information, including how to sign up to receive a free tree, at and in upcoming issues of “Rockville Reports.”
