Volunteer Opportunities Not Totally on Pause During Pandemic

While many volunteer opportunities are on hold during the ongoing pandemic, others, which allow for social distancing, are seeking support.

Community members looking to keep our city streams clean and our city weed-free can apply to adopt a stream (www.rockvillemd.gov/636/Adopt-a-Stream) or join the city’s Weed Warriors (www.rockvillemd.gov/639/Weed-Warriors). Stream cleanup and weed-pull events are being planned for fall and qualify for Student Service Learning credit hours.

Montgomery County is seeking volunteers to serve as Census Ambassadors, visiting food distribution and other community events to encourage census participation.

Students in 10th-, 11th- and 12th grade can apply by Friday, Sept. 11 to help the city’s Human Rights Commission as a Student Ambassador.
