Community-minded Rockville residents looking for a place to lend a helping hand can be matched with local nonprofits and other agencies in need at the city’s Salute to Nonprofits.
The 12th annual salute will be held from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Rockville Farmers Market, in the jury parking lot at Route 28 and Monroe Street.
The event matches would-be volunteers – whether they’re students earning service learning hours or kind-hearted seniors looking to dedicate their time – with a place to help. In past years, the Salute to Nonprofits has featured a wide scope of agencies that work with children and families, the elderly, food banks, libraries, community clinics, animal shelters, local music, arts, and science and robotics.
Nonprofits interested in participating should call the city’s Community Services Division at 240-314-8310.
The Salute to Nonprofits is presented by the City of Rockville and the Rockville Human Services Advisory Commission. Find more information on volunteering at www.rockvillemd.gov/volunteer.
