The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate. But leave the fireworks to the professionals.

The private use and possession of fireworks, including sparklers, is illegal in Montgomery County and carries a fine of up to $1,000 and/or six months in jail. Public fireworks displays require proper permits and insurance.

Fireworks were involved in an estimated 10,200 injuries in 2022 in the United States, according to a study by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Of those, 73% took place in the month surrounding the July Fourth holiday.
